It takes many legislators years to get rid of their training wheels. Our Senator, Ray Merrick, spends his time finding solutions...getting answers...making things happen. He's working on some of Kansas' toughest problems and is making real progress.

BUSINESS AND JOBS
In the House, and now in the Senate, Ray Merrick works to expand business opportunities and job creating by lowering the tax burden and creating avenues for expansion. Supported and endorsed by the Kansas Chamber of Commerce, Ray Merrick has been recognized a defender of business in Kansas.

EDUCATION
Ray Merrick was the champion and sponsor of critical legislation for Johnson County schools to get their fair share of tax dollars. He was also the sponsor of a bill for a $5 million grant for KU Medical Center cancer research.

SENIORS
Ray Merrick knows that seniors living on fixed incomes have to watch every penny they spnd. That is why in the House, Ray worked to cap property tax valuations and to eliminate the salex tax on food, two issues of importance to seniors. He continues this fight today in the Kansas Senate.

HEALTH CARE
Ray Merrick and his Republican colleageus are leading the way for sweeping health care reforms heralded by the Wall Street Journal as a model for other states to pursue. Ray's efforts will help lower costs and expand consumer choice.
